Hours

We are open Monday – Thursday from 8:30am-4:30pm, with lunch from 12:30pm-1:30pm.

Appointments

Your scheduled appointment time is dedicated specifically for your child.  Any change in this appointment affects all of our patients for the day.  If you arrive late, you may be asked to reschedule for the next available time.  If you need to cancel or reschedule you reserved time, we ask for 2 business days notice to allow another child the opportunity to take that appointment.  If sufficient notice is not given, a $50.00 cancellation fee will be applied.  Our office reserves the right not to schedule any appointments if multiple appointments are missed.

Scheduling

We strive to see all patients on time for their reserved appointment.  Please remember, we run on child time, not adult time.  There are times when our schedule is delayed to accommodate an injured child or an emergency.  We apologize in advance should this occur during your visit.

All children under the age of 5 are scheduled in the mornings.  Most children under 5 do better in the mornings when they are fresh and can focus.  Re-care appointments are scheduled 6 months in advance for your convenience.  Reminder calls are done 2 weeks in advance should you need to change that existing appointment. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.  This allows for all necessary paperwork to be completed and gives your child a chance to play.  A parent or legal guardian (with official documentation) must be present at the initial examination so we can get to know you and your child and put together a plan that best suits them and obtain your consent for any treatment that is presented.  After the first visit and your consent is obtained another family member is welcome to bring the child in for their appointment.

Finances and Insurance

Fees are determined by the amount of time spent with the doctor, cost of materials, and lab fees.  We base our fees primarily with the pediatric fee guide, a pricing guideline set by the British Columbia Dental Association.

At your initial appointment, you will receive a treatment plan outlining all fees associated with each appointment.  These fees are to be paid in full on the day of each appointment.  We accept payment by cash, debit, or credit.

If you have dental insurance, we will send your dental claim electronically to your benefit company/insurance so you receive your reimbursement faster.  As a convenience to larger families, we may accept assignment on your behalf.

Please be sure to provide your child’s care card so that we may check to see if you qualify for the healthy kids program, a government funded plan.  The healthy kids program does not pay for all of your child’s dental treatment so you will be responsible for the difference that is not covered. If you have any questions regarding your insurance or dental account, please call the office and speak with one of our helpful business administrators.

Parent Participation

Parents are invited back to observe the initial exam and/or hygiene/cleaning visit.  We have a designated parent seating area from which you can observe your child and their interaction with our dental team.  Many parents ask if they can accompany their child in the treatment room and this will depend on your child and you.  We recommend that parents wait in the waiting room as children tend to do better without the parent present (they listen better to direction, develop a trust and rapport/comfort level with the dental team, and are not negatively influenced by any parental anxiety).  However, sometimes having the parent present is helpful and you will be asked to join your child in the treatment room.  Each room has a clear glass window that parents are able to observe through as well.  Finally, if you expect your child to do well and enjoy their visit to our office, chances are they will do just that!
